Compatibility
Scalpel works fine with BeOS R3 PPC, but it should do so well with PR2. There is no Intel version yet. If anybody wants to compile it for Intel, just shout, I'll send the source code (sigh).

Introduction
Scalpel is - yet another - thread and team management utility. But what makes it different is that it runs in the background and can display its interface or kill the active application through two simple key shortcuts. It has also the ability to relaunch the Tracker and the Deskbar, and to launch a new Terminal at any time - because it runs in the background.
Well, you may want to try it now instead of reading my bad English.

Installation
Scalpel can be run at any time like any application, but you will want to add it to your UserBootScript. As you may notice, the startup information alert is quite annoying in that case. Just add the parameter " noinfo" (ie "Scalpel noinfo", just try it from the Terminal and you'll see) and you won't be bothered anymore. Once Scalpel is launched, its icon doesn't appear in the Deskbar, but it's here, waiting for one of the magical key combinations.

Usage
Now, let's come to the serious things. I think (hope) the following informations will be enough :
- To call the Scalpel control dialog, just type [ctrl+esc] at any time.
- To kill the active (= frontmost) application, type [ctrl+shift+esc].
I think the options in the dialog are quite self-explanatory. If you want more info, just email me.

Known limitations
I haven't tried it, but Scalpel shouldn't work with the games that take over the whole screen with the Game Kit. In that case, use the magical combination [ctrl+shift+option+command+F12] (on a Mac keyboard) if you want to stop the game's execution.

Shareware notice
- FREE if you're a student and/or unemployed.
- If you develop sharewares, let's exchenge our licenses. Isn't it a nice idea ?
- If you develop a commercial soft (let's say... BeOS R4, or CodeWarrior for BeOS... ;) I will accept a single user license... :)
- If you produce anything and can send me one exemplary (software or not... ;), do it !
- Well, if you aren't any of it, I'll only accept 20 French Francs cash or a postal money order (mandat postal), because my bank doesn't accept too little cheques... sorry.
- If you never pay your sharewares, well, what can I say ? Don't pay, that's all.
Anyway, if you have any appreciations or suggestions, please take three minutes to write them down (in French, English or German) and email them to me. I WILL try to add the requested features in future versions.
